The top-selling watch in the world is now slimmer than ever, boasting the largest and most sophisticated display to date. It includes sleep apnea alerts, quicker charging capabilities, and sensors for water depth and temperature.
Introducing Apple Watch Series 10
Apple has finally come up with the Apple Watch Series 10. This new series features a revamped look and interesting features that improve the performance of the best smartwatch in the world, making it powerful, intelligent, and classy. The new model, Apple Watch Series 10, is the thinnest released into the market and yet offers maximum comfort when worn.
It also boasts of the biggest and most technologically advanced display than any other model of an Apple Watch. It also packs in some fresh features for the notification sleep apnea and speedy charging along with measuring depth and temperature of the water it touches, together with all the new health and fitness analytics made possible with watch OS 11.
Apple Watch Series 10 comes in aluminum and titanium with numerous eye-catching colors and finishes. It also comes in a shiny polished aluminum finish, new to the market in a beautiful reflective jet black that gleams with sleek beauty; its new titanium cases offer an amazing jewelry-like shine in natural, gold, and slate.
Apple Watch has made a tremendous positive difference for people globally by encouraging them to maintain their health, stay active, feel secure, and remain connected to what truly matters in their lives — and it has played a role in saving numerous lives in the process, stated Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer.
With the launch of Apple Watch Series 10, we are building on ten years of groundbreaking innovations to present the most advanced model to date, featuring enhanced intelligence, our largest wearable display, and a design that is more streamlined and elegant than ever.
The Most Streamlined Apple Watch to Date
Thinner
- Apple Watch Series 10 is about 10 percent thinner compared to the predecessors, that is, Series 7, 8, and 9. It features all the advanced features while introducing new ones with the promise of an incredible 18-hour battery life.
- A revolutionary metal back design integrates the antenna with the housing of the device in a seamless look. The material of the back, the finishing, and the color fit in with the rest of the case so it would be fair to say the entire watch is machined from a single piece of metal.
- The new S10 SiP was designed to be thinner, so it is performance, power efficiency, and intelligent. The S10 SiP and built-in 4-core Neural Engine enable important features users rely on each day, including the double tap gesture, on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic workout detection; important safety features such as Crash Detection and Fall Detection; and the updated Smart Stack, the redesigned Photos face, and the Translate app in watch OS 11.
Slimmer
- In addition to its slimmer profile, the Apple Watch Series 10 is also significantly lighter: the aluminum cases are up to 10% lighter than Series 9, while the titanium is almost 20% lighter than stainless steel Series 9. Case corners are rounded, the aspect ratio expanded, resulting in a far larger display, only modestly enlarging the case to the new 42mm and 46mm sizes.
Advanced Wearable Largest Display
Largest Display
The screen is the hub of any interaction-from reading a notification to looking at your workouts for just a quick moment. Apple Watch Series 10 features the largest display on any Apple Watch and is also the most advanced.
This screen of higher size offers as much as 30 percent more actively screen area than in cases with Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6. Also, compared with other series like Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9 for Apple Watch, that makes up to 9 percent more.
Thus it contributes to better readability and functionality: In Messages, Mail, or News users have one more row in these apps or read large-size text without having it diminish content. The bigger screen will make typing a message, pausing a workout, or entering a passcode much easier to do.
Wide Angle OLED Display
That comes with an innovative wide-angle OLED display. In every pixel, Apple Watch Series 10 optimizes that to emit more light and at wider angles, that makes the display stand up to 40 per cent brighter than in view from an angle. Series 9 can therefore get read at a glance from any angle.
The wide-angle OLED display is also more power-efficient, so it can sustain a faster refresh rate when Apple Watch is in always-on mode, from once a minute to once a second. This means that users can now see a ticking seconds hand without raising their wrist on select watch faces.
New watch faces in watch OS 11 are designed to be optimized for the bigger display and faster refresh rate on Apple Watch Series 10. The Flux watch face is a bold graphic design that fills the screen with color second by second. The Reflections watch face features a shimmering dial that reacts subtly to user movements, complementing the highly reflective quality of the new titanium cases.
Faster Charging
The new metal back features a bigger and more efficient charging coil, so Series 10 is the fastest-charging Apple Watch ever. With Series 10, you can use Apple Watch as much throughout the day and overnight. Fifteen minutes of charging gives you up to eight hours of normal daily use, or eight minutes of charging powers up to eight hours of sleep tracking. This would also mean that users could charge their batteries to 80 percent in around 30 minutes.
Smart Sleep Apnea Alerts
The new design is more compact, and charging the Apple Watch Series 10 takes less time than before. All this comes in handy with some further added intelligent health features to monitor such key overnight metrics as heart rate, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature, and even adds a feature that helps identify signs of sleep apnea.
It is a potentially serious disorder where breathing pauses or has shallow breaths during sleep. More than 1 billion people worldwide suffer from this condition, and in most cases, they go undiagnosed. Untreated sleep apnea may result in serious health consequences like hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.
Apple Watch can now even detect sleep apnea as it monitors the tiny motion at the wrist which correlated with interruptions to the regular breathing patterns monitored with the new Apple Watch metric – Breathing Disturbances.
Many of these disturbances are normal and should be followed because they can be used to inform understanding of sleep restfulness, and when occurring more than once over several nights, may be associated with sleep apnea.
Breathing Disturbances
Users may view their nightly Breathing Disturbances in the Health app, where it is classified as elevated or not elevated, and which can be viewed over one month, six months, or one year.
This sleep apnea algorithm analyzes the data of disturbances in breathing, so it can inform a user about the existence of consistent symptoms of sleep apnea from the data.
The notification would include the time period where potential sleep apnea had occurred, educational materials that would make the user seek treatment, and a PDF that will provide three months of breathing disturbance data, notification details, and other relevant information for reference during conversation with the healthcare provider.
Advanced machine learning was used to design the sleep apnea notification algorithm, which was augmented with a large data set of clinical-grade sleep apnea tests. The feature was validated in a clinical study unprecedented in size for sleep apnea technology.
All participants identified by the algorithm in the clinical validation study had at least mild sleep apnea. The feature will be issued marketing authorization by the FDA and other global health regulatory bodies in the coming month. Sleep apnea notices will be available in more than 150 countries and regions, including the United States, the EU, and Japan, this month.
Water sports depth and temperature sensing, and new app called the Tides.
Water Temperature Sensor
Apple Watch is great for activities in and around the water, with a swim-proof design that has a 50-meter water resistance rating, automatic stroke detection, and lap counting — and now watch OS 11 introduces Custom Workouts for pool swims. A new depth gauge and water temperature sensor make Apple Watch Series 10 an even better companion when users are headed into the water.
Depth Gauge
This new depth gauge measures as low as 6 meters below the surface of the water, perfect for snorkeling and shallow diving or playing in the pool, lake, or ocean. This new water temperature sensor will measure the temperature of the water once Apple Watch has been submerged.
The built-in Depth app is very legible so you can see the time, current depth, water temperature, duration under water, and max depth-all with the option to automatically activate as soon as Apple Watch is submerged. Water temperature also is displayed in workout metrics during Pool Swim and Open Water Swim workouts.
Tides app
To assist users in planning and participating in open water activities while remaining informed about changing conditions, watch OS 11 introduces a new Tides app. The app will provide seven rolling days of forecasted tidal information for coastlines and surf spots around the globe, including information on high and low tides, rising and falling tides, tide height and direction, and sunrise and sunset, all plotted against a timeline.
Users can also see beaches near their location on a handy map, and new complications show current tide information for their favorite spots or closest beaches at a glance.
Oceanic Plus
Oceanic+ for Apple Watch Series 10 is available now with new snorkeling features. Developed in partnership with Huish Outdoors, the app makes it easy to find popular snorkeling locations nearby, view information on conditions provided by the snorkeling community, and see depth, water temperature, and more in a single view during a snorkeling session.
Audio playback through speakers and voice isolation for calls
Now you can play back audio on Apple Watch Series 10 directly from the watch via the built-in speaker. In the same way as with calls, you can listen to audio from these apps and from third party – Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Books, directly on your Apple Watch.
Apple Watch Series 10 also features a new voice isolation neural network running on the 4-core Neural Engine, suppressing background noise during phone or FaceTime audio calls so a user’s voice sounds crisp and clear on the other end of the line — even in noisy environments like a crowded restaurant, a city street, or a windy day outside.
New aluminium finishes and polished titanium for a sophisticated look
Aluminium Finishes
Polished aluminium for the first time, jet black in a uniquely shiny reflective finish, has Apple Watch. The aluminum case is polished with nano-particles and further processed in a 30-step anodisation process. Additionally, Apple Watch Series 10 will be available in a new rose gold aluminum along with the popular brushed silver aluminum.
Furthermore, the Apple Watch Series 10 comes in an aerospace-grade polished titanium that has replaced the stainless steel from previous generations. The new grade 5 titanium cases feature a spectacularly reflective, jewelry-like finish and are nearly 20 percent lighter than the stainless steel version of the Apple Watch Series 9.
The three stunning colors of the titanium cases include natural, gold, and slate.
This product marks the first carbon neutral of Apple Watch, leaving emissions dramatically reduced in its three biggest sources: material usage, electricity, and transportation, and offset with remaining small emissions through purchasing high-quality projects in nature in the form of carbon credits.
With the Apple Watch Series 10, customers can now get a carbon-neutral variant of any Apple Watch model in any material, with cases made from 100 percent recycled aluminum or 95 percent recycled titanium.
An important step toward Apple 2030, an ambitious plan by Apple to reduce its entire carbon footprint, which will be carbon-neutral by 2030, this is one significant product that will lead Apple forward.
Featuring watch OS 11
Apart from the Beyond the Tides app, Apple Watch Series 10 comes with watch OS 11’s powerful health and fitness insights and deep customization. These include:
Vitals app
The new Vitals app will also enable users to get the most important overnight health metrics at a glance, thus making them better able to contextualize their health. It will send users a notification when two or more metrics are out of range along with a message about what changes in these particular metrics may be connected to some other part of life: elevation changes, alcohol intake, or illness, for example.
Load Training
A load in training terms means the intelligent way of estimating in advance the magnitude or intensity and work duration the users’ bodies endure during this period-that is insights of such findings can direct or guide what decisions should be made within a specific given day.
